AUDIO MASTERING: WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Mastering is the final process of music production. It is the last stage after mixing when a song is 'polished' to its final sound. In our eyes, it is an art that takes a fine ear to create the balance required to make a recording reach its potential.

We have worked on many projects over the years and there isn't much we haven't come across in terms of musical genre. With our custom built console and world class mastering software we have created thousands of red book standard masters for various record labels and artists over the years.

We now offer ONLINE MASTERING to cater to the constant requests from international clients.

Audio Restoration

We use the world leading CEDAR software created at the University of Cambridge for the removal of unwanted tape noise and clicks. Although there are now many types of audio restoration software bundles out there, in our experience none have come even close to the quality of Vinyl RestorationCEDAR de-click and CEDAR de-noise.

The key difference is that when CEDAR removes the unwanted noise it does not affect the overall sound of the recording whereas inferior programs will affect the overall dynamic range and make the track sound ‘hollow’ or ‘metallic’.
Over the years it has been indespensible to us, especially when the only surviving recording of a track is on vinyl!

Format Transfer

Over the years formats have changed and continue to do so. At DCDM we can take audio virtually from any format. Including: 78's, vinyl, 1/4 & 1/2 inch tape, cassette, DAT (digital audio tape), Mini Disc, U-Matic 1640 Tape and CD.

DDP Image Creation

"Disc Description Protocol (DDP) is a format for specifying the content of optical discs, including CDs. It is commonly used for delivery of disc masters for replication."

DDP Image

Basically, we can take your tracks or mastered CD's and create a DDP file which you can then send wherever you like. It is the main method that CD replication plants accept data (other than master CD's). It is safer and more reliable than having your audio files on a physical disc and can be sent anywhere over the internet without even leaving your home.
